Ride across Vietnam on a 14-day motorcycle ride from Saigon to Hanoi through coastal roads, sandy dunes, mountain passes, and highland towns. The route passes through Vung Tau, Mui Ne, Da Lat, Hoi An, Hue, Phong Nha, and Mai Chau before reaching Hanoi in the north along the historic Ho Chi Minh Trail.
Along the way are imperial cities, cave systems, rice valleys, beaches, mountain roads, and local communities across Vietnam.
14-Day Vietnam Motorcycle Trip: From Saigon To Hanoi (Cross-country ride)
Day 1: Saigon – Vung Tau (120 km / 75 mi)
Leave Saigon and ride south toward the coast. Arrive in Vung Tau, a seaside town known for fishing boats, beaches, and coastal scenery. Visit the Christ of Vung Tau statue or walk along the shoreline before dinner and an overnight stay at a hotel.
Day 2: Vung Tau – Mui Ne (220 km / 137 miles)
Ride east along the coast past fishing villages, rice fields, and seaside roads. Continue toward Mui Ne as palm groves and sand dunes begin to appear along the route. Arrive in Mui Ne for time at the beach, sand dunes, or coastal cafés.
Day 3: Mui Ne – Da Lat (170 km / 106 miles)
Leave the coast behind and climb into the Central Highlands through pine forests, valleys, and mountain passes. Arrive in Da Lat, known for lakes, gardens, and French-era architecture. Spend the evening around Xuan Huong Lake or the flower gardens before dinner and overnight stay in the city.
Day 4: Da Lat Free Day To Relax
Free day in Da Lat to explore at your own pace. Visit Xuan Huong Lake, Da Lat Market, Domaine de Marie Church, waterfalls, cafés, or local gardens throughout the city. Spend the evening enjoying the cool mountain atmosphere of Da Lat.
Day 5: Da Lat – Buon Ma Thuot (200 km / 124 miles)
Take the ride north through pine forests, mountain roads, and rolling hills toward Buon Ma Thuot. Known as Vietnam’s coffee capital, the city is surrounded by plantations and highland landscapes. Spend the afternoon exploring local coffee culture before dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Buon Ma Thuot – Mang Den (290 km / 180 miles)
Take the dirt trails, ride through the Central Highlands and the Ia Drang Valley, passing forests, mountain roads, and quiet villages. Continue through An Khe before arriving in Mang Den, a cool highland town surrounded by pine forests.

Day 7: Mang Den – Hoi An (250 km / 155 miles)
Leave the highlands and ride through the winding roads of Phuoc Son, surrounded by forests and mountain scenery. Arrive in Hoi An by late afternoon and explore the lantern streets, riverside cafés, and old town.

Day 8: Hoi An Free On Your Own
Free day in Hoi An to explore the old town, Japanese Covered Bridge, markets, and cafés. Optional activities include An Bang Beach, cycling to Tra Que Vegetable Village, or boat trips along the Thu Bon River.
Spend the evening enjoying Hoi An’s riverside atmosphere and lantern-lit streets.
Day 9: Hoi An – Hue (150 km / 93 miles)
Today we take an easy ride nnorth along the coast and cross Hai Van Pass with views over the sea and mountains. Stops include, Marble mountain, war bunkers on Hai Van pass and then continue to Hue, the former imperial capital of Vietnam. Arrive and check in, short rest, then visit the Imperial City, royal tombs, and Thien Mu Pagoda before dinner and overnight stay in Hue.
Day 10: Hue – Khe Sanh (190 km / 118 miles)
We take the more quite backroads toward the border with Laos, we ride west from Hue along sections of the Ho Chi Minh Trail through valleys, forests, and remote villages near the Lao border. Arrive in Khe Sanh, an area connected to the Vietnam War and former combat bases. Visit Ta Con Airport Museum or explore the surrounding mountain landscapes before overnight stay.
Day 11: Khe Sanh – Phong Nha (270 km / 168 miles)
We take an adventure ride through the north along the western Ho Chi Minh Trail through valleys, villages, and karst mountains. Stop at DMZ sites, war memorials, and the Vinh Moc Tunnels before continuing to Phong Nha. Arrive in Phong Nha, home to some of Vietnam’s largest cave systems.
Day 12: Phong Nha – Tan Ky (260 km / 162 miles)
Continue through rural Vietnam past rice fields, rivers, and quiet villages. Along the route are local cafés and countryside roads before arriving in Tan Ky. Overnight stay in this small town along the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
Day 13: Tan Ky – Pu Luong (220 km / 136 miles)
Ride toward Pu Luong through terraced rice fields, mountain roads, and ethnic villages. Arrive in Pu Luong and stay in a traditional stilt house surrounded by valleys and forested hills. Evening dinner with local food before overnight stay in the valley.
Day 14: Pu Luong – Hanoi (170 km / 106 miles)
The final ride passes lakes, limestone mountains, and rural villages on the way back to Hanoi. Arrive in Hanoi in the afternoon and complete the motorcycle journey across Vietnam from south to north.
