7 Days 6 Nights Motorcycle Tour To The Northwest Vietnam, from Hanoi

Day 1: Hanoi to Mai Chau | 170 km |6 Hours

We leave Hanoi around 8 AM, joining the daily traffic with locals while gradually heading out of the town till we are along the red river where we take the first off-road along the banana forest around 1 hour. Later, we drive out of the town through Hoa Binh hydrofoil dam, then toward the Thung Khe pass (also known as Da Trang) situated along the route between Mai Chau and Moc Chau before we descend to the Mai Chau Valley. Arrive and check in. In the evening, we enjoy the dinner with traditional tribal dance performance.

Day 2: Phu Yen | 150 Km | 6 Hours

Ride from Mai Chau through Moc Chau’s tea-growing highlands and ethnic minority villages, then follow Road the Black River, cross Van Yen ferry, and continue on winding secondary roads to Phu Yen town in Son La Province.

Day 3: Ta Xua – Nghia Lo (160 km | 6 Hours

Enjoy a leisure breakfast before heading out for an off-road around the local hamlets following by an ascend toward the Ta Xua Plateau, located 1800 meter above the sea level. Then, we head toward the infamous Dinosaur spine, a dramatic ridged line above the mountain with a killer view over the surrounding valleys. Once we done with this, we carry on toward the backroads to reach Nghia Lao where we lodge for an overnight.

Day 4: Mu Cang Chai | 130 km | 4 Hours

Today ride is from Nghia Lo to Mu Cang Chai through green tea plantations, stunning mountain landscapes, Khau Pha Pass, and Tu Le valley, then continue into the hilly paddy-growing district of Mu Cang Chai, home to the Hmong minority tribe, for an overnight stay in a Thai tribal homestay.

Day 5: Sapa | 130 km | 3 Hours

We start the day out of the Mu Cang Chai through Tan Uyen where we tackle an off-road around the gorges and mountain ridges before ascending to Quy Ho Pass for a ride across winding mountain roads, breathtaking clouds, tea, corn, and rice plantations, then continue to Sapa highland town to visit the Sapa Stone Church and experience the daily trade and cultural exchanges of the local ethnic minority communities before an overnight stay in a resort in Sapa.

Day 6: Vu Linh & Thac Ba | 230 km | 6 Hours

Start the day with a leisure coffee time and then slowly take to Lao Cai on the Nam Thi River at the Vietnam–China border, then follow road 152 through palm forests with some challenging off-roads to Vu Linh village, on the bank side of the Thac Ba Lake, Vietnam’s largest man-made lake, where a boat ride among the islands reveals the quiet beauty of the lake and the lifestyle of the Dao tribes.

Day 7: Final ride to Hanoi | 180 km | 5 Hours
