Ha Giang Motorbike Tours From Hanoi

The Ha Giang motorbike tours, the most iconic ride in Vietnam. The main loop runs from Hanoi through Quan Ba, Dong Van, and Meo Vac, crossing Ma Pi Leng Pass above the Nho Que River canyon. The roads follow the Chinese border through limestone mountains and the ethnic minority villages.

The classic loop is tarmac throughout. Since 2013, we’ve been running tours through secondary backroads and off-road trails together with the rides across northern Vietnam.

Custom Ha Giang Motorbike Tours

Ha Giang covers a lot to ride it around a week or more. Each route focuses on a specific section, and no two custom routes look the same. We regularly combine the Ha Giang loop with the northeast toward Cao Bang, or northwest through Mu Cang Chai and Sapa, with off-road trails and dirt ride, depending on your riding level.

We’ve been doing Ha Giang since 2013. Tell us your dates, number of riders, and your experience.

What is the Ha Giang Motorbike Loop?

Ha Giang located in the far north of Vietnam, around 350 km from Hanoi. Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi is the closest entry point.

The main loop is the busiest riding destination in northern Vietnam. During peak season, expect a large number of guided groups and independent riders all around.

Our tours cover the main highlights plus trails through Pho Cao, Lung Cu, and border backroads that don’t show up on standard tour itineraries. We also combine Ha Giang with the Northeast toward Cao Bang or the Northwest through Mu Cang Chai for riders who want a longer northern circuit.

The route suits different levels. Beginners and intermediate riders stick to the tarmac and classic loop. Experienced riders come for the off-road sections, mountain trail rides, river crossings, and isolated border areas.

Experience Ha Giang motorbike Tours

The experience we offer on our Ha Giang motorbike tour is far beyond riding the main routes, we offer a multi-day riding tour, all from Hanoi, leading through the northernmost trails. The route typically includes the Dong Van Karst Plateau, Meo Vac, Quan Ba, and frontier backroads close to the border with China.

Many first-timers ride the standard loop, though the best experience go far beyond the main tourist routes. Smaller mountain roads, dirt tracks, and isolated villages offer a very different experience, both from riding and the cultures you see up-close.

In addition, the Ha Giang off-road adventure goes deeper into the region with an expedition-style ride following remote trails, rocky passes, and much more.

What Makes Ha Giang Different From Other Rides?

Remote border roads near China. Towering limestone mountains, deep valleys, and winding passes unmatched anywhere else in the country. Less traffic than other regions, authentic ethnic minority culture, and endless riding variety from tarmac to off-road trails.

That’s what makes Ha Giang different from the other regions, specially in the north of Vietnam. The combination of views, remoteness, and landscape, which is why it’s considered the best destination for a true motorbike adventure.
